Are All Miracles from God?
One thing that seems to unite most people are so-called "miracles" and wonders. Anything amazing and wonderful that seems to defy normal or natural, we label supernatural, and because it is supernatural, we attribute such things to God only.
Well, what's interesting is the list of warnings in Scripture that teach that not all miracles and wonders are from God. According to the Bible, just because something good and magical happens, doesn't mean the force behind it is of God. In fact, we're told in the following verse that there's another force at work that loves to decieve man. "And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light." II Corinthians 11:14
Though light often represents God. Lucifer, before his fall, was known as the Lightbearer or Morningstar. Lucifer has "light" too...it can illuminate with a mixture of truth and error.
Let's look at some other
warnings concerning Satan's last day miracle working power that will lead
people to be deceived. Why? The verse tells us.
"The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of
Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, and in
every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because
they refused to love the truth and so be saved. [1 Thessalonians 2:9-10]
A refusal to love the truth, as found in the Word of God, automatically places
a person in a position of possibly being deceived by counterfeit miracles.
"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but
inwardly they are ferocious wolves..." Matt. 7:15
"And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven
on the earth in the sight of men, And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth
by [the means of] those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of
the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an
image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live..."
Revelation 13:13-14.
Miracles that are not from God, will deceive people into accepting "doctrines of the devil."
1 Timothy: 4:1 "But the
Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith,
paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons."
Matthew 24:24 "For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will
show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the
elect."
How can we trust and know if the miracle is from God or another source?
"To the law and to the testimony, if they speak not according to THIS
WORD, there is NO LIGHT in them." (Isaiah 8:20)
The Word of God stands firm, though many in the last days will arise speaking a new gospel, throwing away the Bible and putting into place doctrines of devils that will sound good and even "illuminate" the mind...but it is not the fruit of the Tree of Life, but rather the metaphorical tree that God says not to eat from.
Just keep in mind, as you look around the world, there will be FALSE miracles, FALSE wonders, and not all miracles are from God. Get to know the Word so you can "test the spirits" to know whether they're from God or not.
