Messiah Ben Joseph vs. Messiah Ben David

Messiah Ben Joseph vs. Messiah Ben David

I had an incredible unexpected encounter with an orthodox Jew, David from Jerusalem, Israel. He dropped in unannounced and said he was in town doing a type of Mitzvoth (good deed) and charity. He was dumb founded at our sign:

GOOD NEWS FOR ISRAEL
Isaiah 1:18 Come let us reason together says the Lord.

He said what kind of place am I in? What do you people believe?

He was stunned that we had a mural of the Western Wailing Wall. And on top of that we had a picture of Yeshua/Jesus at the wall praying for his countryman.

I told him we were believers in the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Yeshua as the Messiah. He said Yeshua is not the MESSIAH! I said you are totally wrong and your scriptures say so! He said the Torah (5 books of Moses) does not say he is the Messiah. I said that is not correct, Moses said in Genesis 49: 10-The scepter or leadership shall not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until Shiloh [the Messiah, the Peaceful One] comes to Whom it belongs, and to Him shall be the obedience of the people.

In Deuteronomy 18:15 it says - The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet (Prophet) from the midst of your brethren like me [Moses]; to him you shall listen. He then said that didn't say Yeshua. I said your right but it is starting to fill in the blanks. I then took him to Psalm 22 which is a vivid portrait of the crucifixion. He 1st read it in English and said he would rather read it in Hebrew, I said fine here it is. He read it with amazement - vs. 16 for dogs have surrounded me; a band of evildoers has encompassed me, they pierced my hands and my feet. 17 I can count all my bones. They look, they stare at me; they divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots.

He was starting to see a portrait come together. I than said have you read the New Testament?

He said No, it is forbidden!

I said lets read Jeremiah 31:31-34 31 "Look, the days are coming"- [this is] the LORD's declaration- "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the House of Judah. 32 [This one will] not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt-a covenant they broke even though I had married them" the LORD's declaration. 33 "Instead, this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days"-the LORD's declaration. "I will place my law within them and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 34 No longer will one teach his neighbor or his brother, saying: Know the LORD, for they will all know Me, from the least to the greatest of them"-the LORD's declaration. "For I will forgive their wrongdoing and never again remember their sin." He was stunned!

After 1 hour and 45 minutes. He said; O.K. you convinced me, Yeshua is "Messiah ben Joseph"! But he is not Messiah ben David! I said I disagree, let's go to  Zechariah 12:9 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.  10 And  I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. And also Zechariah 14:3 Then the LORD will go out to fight against those nations as He fights on a day of battle. 4 On that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east. The Mount of Olives will be split in half from east to west, forming a huge valley, so that half the mountain will move to the north and half to the south... David who is this speaking about?

He said Messiah ben David! I agree! If you would read the new (Yeshua) covenant you would see that Yeshua said he would do this for His people Israel!

He said he needed to leave, he had stayed long enough.

I said, it is the same person coming 2 times, not 2 different people!

I was grateful for having made the case for both Messiahs in Yeshua/Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews! (John 19:19)
